Box Score BEREA, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team earned a three-game sweep at cross-town rival Baldwin-Wallace College on Wednesday, September 15 at Ursprung Gymnasium. The Spartans have now won three matches in a row and four of five overall.
Case improves to 6-3 for the season and won by scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-17. Baldwin-Wallace has an eight-match win streak snapped and falls to 9-3.
Senior outside hitter Beth Karpinski (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake) led the attack with 13 kills and contributed 10 digs to the defensive effort. Junior reigning University Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week Tricia McCutchan (Hamilton, OH/Badin) posted 10 kills. Sophomore setter Breana Freeman (Geneva, OH/Geneva) paced the offense with 27 assists and junior defensive specialist Kara Monnin (Minster, OH/Minster) posted a team-high 13 digs.
The Spartans return to action this Friday and Saturday, September 17-18, at the Carnegie Mellon University (PA) Crossover. The Spartans open the weekend versus Allegheny College (PA) and Johns Hopkins University (MD) at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., respectively, on Friday.
