Paul Yappel joined the Case Western Reserve University football coaching staff before the start of the 2026 season, serving as the team’s assistant offensive line coach.

Yappel brought with him over a decade and a half of experience as an assistant coach at the high school level. He most recently had a long stint at nearby Saint Ignatius High School, serving as the offensive line coach from 2012-21. He was also the head coach of the junior varsity team while with the program. Yappel currently serves as an English teacher at Saint Ignatius, a position he has held since 2012.

Before he arrived at Saint Ignatius, Yappel was the wide receivers and quarterbacks coach at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio.

Yappel received both his Bachelor of Arts in English and his Master of Education degrees from John Carroll, and his certificate in Catholic School Leadership from Creighton.
