CWRU Athletics

Joel Eckert was named the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations in February 2021. Eckert's responsibilities at CWRU include management of facilities, events, and game days, in addition to capital projects planning and management, and all internal and external revenue and non-revenue rentals.

Eckert came to CWRU from nearby Cleveland State University, where he had worked since December 2008. He began his time with the Vikings as their Head Equipment Operations Manager, before being named the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Equipment Operations in December 2016.

Prior to his arrival at Cleveland State, Eckert served as an equipment manager at his alma mater, Kent State University. He was named the Interim Equipment Manager for the Golden Flashes in 2002.

Eckert received his Bachelor of Science from Kent State in Leisure Studies, working as a student equipment manager during his undergraduate career.
