CWRU Athletics

James Rosebury returned to Case Western Reserve University, his alma mater, as the Senior Director of Athletic Development and Assistant Athletic Director in June of 2025. Rosenbury, who played football at CWRU and graduated with a degree in Sociology in 2008, went on to hold several assistant coaching and staff positions at athletic departments across the country (including two stints on the Spartans’ staff) before serving as the Head Football Coach at Kenyon College from 2019-21. After leaving Kenyon, he went to Ohio Wesleyan University where he was the Leadership Giving Officer and a special assistant for the football team.

After graduating from CWRU, he immediately transitioned into a coaching role with the team, serving as an Assistant Coach for Offensive Backs from 2007 through 2009, coinciding with the most successful period in the program’s history. He returned to University Circle in 2013, where he was an Assistant Coach and the Junior Varsity Offensive Coordinator, in addition to working as the Facility Coordinator through March of 2015.

In addition to stops at CWRU, Kenyon, and Ohio Wesleyan, Rosenbury also served on the football coaching staffs at Grinnell College (2010-11), the University of Redlands (2011-13), and Macalester College (2015-19).

Rosenbury entered the coaching profession after a standout career as a running back for the Spartans. He earned All-UAA honors in 2004 and 2006 and finished his career with 1,695 yards (the 11th-most in program history) and nine rushing touchdowns.

In addition to receiving his undergraduate degree from CWRU, he earned his Masters Degree in Higher Education from the University of Redlands in 2013.
