Melissa Cuellar joined the CWRU coaching staff prior to the 2021 season.

In her three seasons as an assistant coach, the Spartans have hit .322 with 92 home runs. The team has averaged more than six runs per game in that time span.

A four-year player at Case Western Reserve, Cuellar appeared in 93 games from 2017-20 as a catcher/infielder. In 196 at bats, she hit .281 with a .350 on-base percentage and .429 slugging percentage, adding eight home runs and five doubles. During the 2019 season, her best as a Spartan, Cuellar posted a .405 batting average and hit five home runs while driving in 17 runs. 

A three-time University Athletic Association All-Academic honoree, Cuellar graduated in 2020 with a degree in Accounting.
