Senior (2017): Named to the All-PAC Second Team… Played in and started all 12 games during the season at inside linebacker… Finished the year third on the squad with 72 tackles, including a team-leading 42 solo tackles… Led all CWRU players with 12 tackles for a loss, and was second on the team with four sacks… Forced two fumbles and intercepted one pass… Broke-up three passes during the year… Turned in a career day during the Spartans’ regular-season finale, collecting 12 tackles (eight solo) including 2.5 for a loss and an interception against Carnegie Mellon on November 11th… Had three tackles, including one for a loss, and forced a fumble against Mount Union in the playoffs… Finished his career with 158 tackles, including 21.5 for a loss and six sacks over 37 games played… Selected to the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society… PAC Academic Honor Roll… Earned UAA Fall All-Academic recognition.
Junior (2016): Started the first six games of the season for the Spartans before missing the final four due to injury… Recorded career-best marks with 40 total tackles and 5.5 tackles for a loss… Added a sack, a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup during the year… Was the team’s leading tackler in a pair of games during the year, recording a career-high 11 tackles in wins over Chicago and Saint Vincent… Received UAA All-Academic honors.
Sophomore (2015): Played in all 10 games during the season… finished the year with 29 tackles, including three for a loss and one sack… added an interception and a pass breakup during the year… named the UAA Athlete of the Week on September 21st after recording a sack and an interception against St. Vincent… had a season-high seven tackles, including one for a loss, against Bethany on October 3rd.
Freshman (2014): Saw action in nine games during the season at linebacker…posted 16 tackles (six solo).
Personal: Earned two varsity letters at Providence Catholic High School…named to 2013 All-Chicago Catholic League Blue Second Team…also an all-area selection…first honor roll student…son of Andy and Maureen Banathy.
