Last Week's Recap

#3 Men's Soccer (1-0-0 last week)

• Defeated Kenyon College 3-0 on Saturday night at DiSanto Field in a huge regional matchup
• Graduate student Saiheed Jah had the game-winning goal, the first of his career, and added an assist
• Sophomore goalkeeper Carter Shedd earned his first career shutout with a career-high six saves, earning University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors for his effort

Football (1-0)

• Defeated Shenandoah University 48-41 in a thrilling home-opening contest on Saturday afternoon in Cleveland
• Junior Andy Kavcic set the single-game program record with 256 rushing yards on 30 carries, scoring twice
• Head Coach Greg Debeljak earned his 150th career win, becoming the 14th active Division III coach with at least 150 victories

Volleyball (3-1)

• Swept Oberlin College on Wednesday night on the road before three matches in Grove City, Pennsylvania
• Lost in four sets to Marietta College on Friday night before defeating Mount St. Joseph in five sets and Thiel College in three sets
• The sweeps were the third and fourth this season for CWRU

Women's Soccer (1-1-0)

• Split a pair of games in Western Michigan last weekend
• Won 2-1 over Hope College with sophomore Izzy Probst scoring in the third minute and graduate student Sophie Berman adding a goal in the ninth minute
• Fell 2-1 on a last minute-goal to Calvin University with Probst scoring for the second game in a row

Men's and Women's Cross Country

• Both teams placed first among Division III schools at the All-Ohio Challenge in Cedarville, Ohio, on Friday night
• Senior Jacob Slater placed first among all runners in 25:01.2 with the Spartans finishing second overall as a team
• Sophomore Reid Smith finished 20th overall and fourth among Division III runners for the women's team in 23:19.2 

Men's Tennis

• Opened the 2026-27 season with competition at the Denison Invitational
• The Spartans went 26-11 in singles matches and 8-11 in doubles matches
• Sophomore Shay Gupta and first-year Revanth Kothapalli each went 3-0 in singles matches

Women's Tennis

• Continued the fall campaign with action at the Kenyon Invitational
• Went 5-21 in singles and 10-10 in doubles play at the two-day meet
• Sophomore Rasika Anandakumar won her only singles match and added three doubles wins
