First Period

  • Brandeis jumped out to an early five-point advantage, going ahead 10-5 at the 6:21 mark.

  • CWRU answered with an 8-2 run, taking a 13-12 lead on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Taylor Angielski with 3:56 to play in the first.

  • The Judges responded with six-straight points and 14 of the next 19 to go up eight, 26-18, with 47 seconds left in the frame, but Angielski's second three-pointer of the period helped the Spartans cut the lead to 28-21 by the end of the first.

Second Period

  • CWRU scored the first five points of the second quarter, including a three-pointer from Hartjes that cut it to a two-point game, 28-26, with 8:22 left in the half.

  • The Judges were able to expand their lead to nine points, 36-27, with 5:33 to go in the second, and after four straight points from Hartjes, Brandeis rallied off five-consecutive points to take a 41-31 lead with 4:14 to play.

  • CWRU trailed by as many as 12 points during the period, but a jumper by first-year forward Christen Banks with 34 seconds left trimmed the Judges' lead to 47-39 heading into halftime.

  • The Spartans finished the first half shooting 50.0% (15-30) overall and 38.5% (5-13) from three-point range.

Third Period

  • A free throw from Plachta to open the second half cut the Brandeis lead to seven points, but that would be as close as the Spartans would get for the rest of the period.

  • CWRU trimmed the lead to eight points on several occasions throughout the period, including after a three-pointer from Call with 18 seconds to play in the frame, but a late basket by the Judges increased their lead to 10, 61-51, heading into the final stanza.

Fourth Period

  • CWRU outscored Brandeis 18-16 in the final period, but it was too little too late for the Spartans.

  • Schorr converted a three-pointer with 6:32 left on the clock, cutting the Brandeis lead to seven points, 68-61, and getting CWRU back into the game.

  • However, the Judges increased their lead back to double digits with 3:42 left, and led by as many as 13 points down the stretch.

  • A traditional three-point play from Hartjes and a layup from Plachta allowed CWRU to cut the deficit to eight points in the closing seconds of the game.
