Case Western Reserve University first-year Hunter Keane, a member of the wrestling team, and senior Grace Misiunas, a sprinter/hurdler on the women's track and field team, have been named the Spartan Club Athletes of the Week for their performances this past week.

Keane finished third in the 141-pound bracket at the Tom Jarman Spartan Mat Classic hosted by Manchester University in North Manchester, Indiana. Keane went 4-1 in his bouts with three falls and a technical fall. He started the meet with back-to-back first-period falls, defeating Hayden Mason of Huntingdon in 2:12 and Logan Harel of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2:24. In the quarterfinal, Keane did not allow a point to Cornerstone's Luke Jaworski, winning by technical fall 19-0 in 4:27. He battled Cole Thomas of Thomas More in the semifinal, allowing just one takedown and an escape to the 2024 Division II National Champion in a 4-1 decision loss. Keane rebounded in the third-place match, pinning Michael Kallimani of Manchester, the fifth-ranked wrestler in the region, in 3:00. Keane improved to 27-6 in his first season of collegiate wrestling with nine pins and four technical falls. The Spartans placed third out of 17 schools at the meet, totaling 127.5 points.

The Spartans will return to Cleveland on Friday, January 23 for their final home match of the season, hosting Washington & Jefferson at Horsburgh Gymnasium at 7 p.m. Prior to the dual, CWRU will honor its eight graduating members as part of Senior Night.

Misiunas won the 60-meter hurdles at the Spartan Icebreaker on Saturday at the Veale Center in Cleveland. In the prelims, she recorded a time of 9.50 seconds, nearly 0.70 seconds faster than her nearest competitor. In the finals, Misiunas lowered her time to 9.35 seconds, besting the runner-up by 0.42 seconds. The time would rank fifth in the University Athletic Association this season. Overall, the Case Western Reserve women's track and field team won eight events at the meet, the squad's first at home in 2026.

The Spartan track and field teams will make the short trip to John Carroll University on Saturday, January 24 for the Leo Miller/Hayden Snow Meet of Champions. Action is slated to begin at 11 a.m. at the Athletic Wellness & Event Center.

The Spartan Club Athletes of the Week are selected by the CWRU Department of Athletics each Monday, based on their performance during the previous week of competition.
