The Case Western Reserve University men's basketball team was named a recipient of the 2024-25 National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Award, while nine student-athletes on the team were selected to the NABC Honors Court, representing achievement in the classroom by men's college basketball teams and individual players.
Spartan players named to the NABC Honors Court included graduate student forward Andy Barba, junior guard Caleb Chapman, junior guard Anand Dharmarajan, senior forward Andrew Fox, graduate student guard Christian McDaniel, senior forward Umar Rashid, junior forward Aaron Rucker, graduate student guard Nicholas Schiavello, and senior guard Sam Trunley.
Rashid and Trunley each earned Honors Court recognition for the second straight season as Spartans. Schiavello, who came to CWRU as a graduate transfer, claimed the recognition for the third consecutive year. Barba, another graduate transfer, claimed the honor for the second straight season.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior, and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
The CWRU men's basketball team finished the year with a combined 3.551 cumulative GPA.
Over 2,400 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court, and nearly 400 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2024-25.
The Spartans finished the season with a 9-16 overall record, including a 5-9 mark in UAA games.
