The Spartans won the opening game of the day 13-7 before claiming a 12-9 win in seven innings in the second game before it was called due to darkness.
The Spartans improved to 13-7 with the two wins while WashU fell to 13-7 by the end of the day.

Game 1 - CWRU 13, #24 WashU 7
Harms and Anderson combined to drive in nine runs in the opening game of the doubleheader, leading the Spartans to a 13-7 win in the contest.
Harms connected for a pair of home runs in the game to increase his season total to seven, matching graduate student first baseman Dane Camphausen for the team lead. He finished the game two-for-three with two runs, five RBIs, and two walks. Anderson reached base in all six of his plate appearances, going four-for-four with four runs, four RBIs, two walks, and his fourth home run of the season.
CWRU took a lead just two batters into the game on a two-run home run from Harms, giving the Spartans a 2-0 advantage. Sophomore pitcher Tyler Stillson got into trouble in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases with nobody out, but escaped significant damage in the frame, allowing just one run to cross on a balk. The Spartans went on to load the bases in the bottom of the first but could not add to their lead, and the Bears went on to put two runs on the board in the bottom of the second to take a 3-2 lead after two frames and added a run in the bottom of the third to go ahead 4-2.
The Spartans evened the score in the top of the fourth when sophomore shortstop Nate Arterburn singled with one out and Anderson followed with a home run over the wall in left center field, knotting the score at 4-4. Graduate student second baseman Franco Alonso led off the fifth with a single and senior center fielder Logan Andreyko and first-year left fielder Mason Nemec each followed with an RBI double to put CWRU ahead 6-4. CWRU continued to add on in the fifth with a two-run double from Anderson and Harms' second two-run home run of the day extending the team's lead to 10-4.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Zach Barnes relieved Stillson in the bottom of the fifth and shut down the Bears over his first four innings of work, keeping WashU off the board until the bottom of the ninth. CWRU added on three more runs in the top of the ninth on sacrifice flies from Harms and Alonso and an RBI single from senior outfielder Jay Smith, going ahead 13-4. The Bears scored three in the bottom of the ninth to pull closer, but the Spartans were able to hold on for the six-run win.
Barnes claimed the win in relief, improving to 2-1 after allowing three runs on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts over his four and a third innings of work. WashU's Townsend Stevenson suffered the loss, dropping to 1-1.
Game 2 - CWRU 12, #24 WashU 9 (7 inn.)
A five-run fourth inning followed by a four-run fifth inning helped to push the Spartans past the Bears in the second game of the day and complete the doubleheader sweep.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third when Harms was walked to start the frame and scored on the next at-bat on a double to left center by Stillson. The Spartans expanded their lead in the fourth when six-consecutive batters reached base with one out, as Anderson drove in a run with a double, Stillson added a two-RBI single, and Alonso plated a pair with a double.
While CWRU appeared to have the game in hand, the Bears answered in the bottom of the inning, putting seven runs on the board to take a 7-6 lead. However, the Spartans had an immediate response with the first six CWRU batters reaching base in the fifth. Anderson, Harms, and Stillson each had run-scoring hits in the frame, and another run crossed the plate on a double play to give CWRU a 10-7 lead after four and a half innings. Anderson added an RBI in the sixth on a ground out to extend the lead to 11-7, but the Bears made it a three-run game after scoring in the bottom of the frame. In the seventh, Andreyko drove in a run with a two-out single, but WashU answered again with a run in the bottom of the frame. However, the game was called due to darkness after the end of the seventh, giving the Spartans the early victory.
First-year southpaw Charlie Griffith started and held the Bears scoreless through the first three innings before running into trouble in the fourth, allowing four runs. First-year righty Oliver Miller allowed three runs in two-thirds of an inning, before junior right Archer Stankowski recorded the final out of the fourth and went on to pitch the rest of the way, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits with a strikeout in three and a third innings of work.
Stankowski earned the win in the game to improve to 3-0 on the season. Stillson finished the game three-for-five with a run, two doubles, and four RBIs. Anderson added a two-for-five day at the plate with two doubles, two runs, and three RBIs. Harms went two-for-three with three runs, an RBI, and a walk, while Alonso, graduate student third baseman Zack Carinci, and Arterburn also had two hits apiece among the Spartans' 14 total in the game.
WashU's Sebastian Guzman suffered the loss to drop to 3-2.
