The Case Western Reserve University offensive line, including starters Gus Salopek (graduate student left tackle), David Freedman (senior left guard), Sean DiDona (sophomore center), Zach Miller (senior right guard), and Owen Myer (senior right tackle), were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after the unit's outstanding performance in a 62-21 win over Allegheny College on Saturday at DiSanto Field in Cleveland.
The group helped CWRU amass 302 rushing yards in the win, the most by the team in a game since the 2016 campaign, while allowing the offense to run for six touchdowns. In addition, they did not allow a sack during the game and helped CWRU total 439 yards of offense in the contest.
While the starting five offensive linemen saw the majority of time on the field, sophomore Ben Casper, first-year Zack Stromock, senior James Kline, first-year Derick Su, sophomore Jeffrey Meschede, first-year Michael Reed Jr., senior Garrett Moorhead, first-year Cooper Komsthoeft, sophomore Jacob Granger, sophomore Trevor Popeck, and junior Nick Petrucci each contributed to the standout performance by the CWRU offensive line as well.
This is just the second time that the Spartans' offensive line has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. The unit had previously earned the honor following the ninth week of the 2016 season. It is the 27th time in program history a Spartan has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week and the first time since the ninth week of the 2023 campaign.
The Spartans have won three straight games to improve to 3-2-1 on the season with a 3-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference record. CWRU will be on its bye week this Saturday before returning to action on Saturday, October 25, against Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
