Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Shah Falls to Green in ITA Central Region Singles Championship

Case Western Reserve University senior Ansh Shah finished as the runner-up in the singles draw at the ITA Fall Central Region Championship in St. Louis, falling in three sets in the championship match on Monday morning.

As the runner-up, Shah will still advance to the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia on October 10 - 13. It will be his second career appearance at the ITA Cup after he qualified for the singles draw as a first-year player in 2021. It is the fifth straight season that the men's tennis team qualified a player for the ITA Cup.

Shah, who entered the tournament as the ninth seed, suffered a 2-6, 1-6, 5-7 loss to Denison's Ethan Green, the 10th-seeded player. After splitting the first two sets, Shah found himself down 3-1 in the third set but reeled off four-straight game wins to take a 5-3 lead over Green. However, with Shah leading 5-4 and tied at 15-15, he suffered an injury and managed to win just three points the remainder of the match, as Green was able to pull out the victory.

Shah finished the tournament with a 5-1 singles record and improved to 9-4 in singles matches this fall.

More information on the ITA Cup will be posted to athletics.case.edu leading up to the event.
