Case Western Reserve University athletics fans will notice a new look for each of the Spartans' 19 varsity teams when they begin competition this year, as each varsity outfit will be outfitted in a brand new set of uniforms for the 2024-25 season.
In alignment with the phased rollout of CWRU's new "bolder and brighter" visual update, first introduced across the campus last year, the Spartans' new uniforms will all feature royal blue, a lighter gray, and white for the upcoming year, shifting away from navy and a darker gray. The new uniforms will continue to be Nike branded and feature the MFR patch, honoring the legacy of Case Institute of Technology alumnus Marion Frank Rudy, the inventor of the Nike Air Sole.
"We are excited to unveil a new look for our varsity athletes this year that is reflective of the changes happening across the campus," said CWRU's James C. Wyant Director of Athletics TJ Shelton. "Varsity athletics plays a major role in school spirit and visibility in the community, and the new uniforms will help us continue to positively promote the University's brand. Furthermore, I believe the change will further increase our athlete's excitement level heading into the upcoming season. We appreciate the assistance and guidance of the President's Office and University Marketing and Communications in helping us expeditiously transition to the 'bolder and brighter' color scheme."
The uniform unveiling is part of a larger branding upgrade in athletics, which also includes new signage and banners across the campus. Most recently, new banners were installed in Horsburgh Gymnasium, reflecting the department's tagline, "CWRU: Compete, Win, Respect, Unite," and athletics-themed light pole signs surrounding Van Horn Field.
Examples of the new uniforms for football, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, and wrestling can be seen in the photos below. Other teams will be receiving their new uniforms throughout the year.
