Seven members of the Case Western Reserve University men's and women's track and field teams were recognized with eight All-Great Lakes Region honors for the indoor season, as announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.
The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top three relays. The 10 regions used for the award match those used during the cross country season.
From the women's team, sophomore Lauren Iagnemma earned two awards for her performance in the 3,000-meter run and as part of the distance medley relay. Iagnemma recorded the fifth-fastest time in the region in the distance event, crossing the line in a school record time of 9:58.94 at the 2024 University Athletic Association Indoor Championships. This is her first and second career track and field All-Region honors and second and third overall honors after she was recognized during the cross country season for her second place finish in the region.
The distance medley relay of Iagnemma, sophomores Arianna Holbrook and Melanie Taylor, and senior Grace Jackson ran the third-fastest time in the region in the event. The quartet completed the race at the UAA Indoor Championships in 12:08.41, setting school record in the process. It is the fourth career All-Region honor for Jackson, who has been recognized twice during the cross country season (2023, 2022) and last year for the indoor distance medley relay, second career honor for Taylor (2023 indoor distance medley relay), and first career honor for Holbrook.
CWRU had two student-athletes with top five marks in the pole vault. First-years Holly Schreiber and Annie Wank each earned their first career All-Region honors after setting the school record in the pole vault during the season. Wank set the record first, clearing 3.64 meters at the Battle for the Obelisk in February. She finished the season fifth in the region. A month later, Schreiber claimed the record, jumping 3.70 meters at the Mount Union Last Chance to finish fourth in the region.
For the men's team, junior Aidan Nathan ran the fourth-best time in the region in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the line at 14:29.54 to place second at the UAA Indoor Championships. It is his first career All-Region honor during the track and field season and second overall honor after receiving recognition during the 2022 cross country season.
With no members of the CWRU track and field teams qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Spartans will turn their attention to the outdoor season, starting with the W&L Track Carnival in Lexington, Virginia, on March 15 and 16.
