Four Spartans Earn All-UAA Volleyball Honors, Two Named to First Team

Four members of the Case Western Reserve University volleyball team received All-University Athletic Association honors the conference announced on Monday with senior outside hitter Rea Marfatia and junior middle blocker Amanda Ngo named to the First Team and senior setter/right-side hitter Carly Scott and senior middle blocker Lily Crouch receiving honorable mention.

It marks the first time in program history that the Spartans have placed two student-athletes on the All-UAA First Team.

Marfatia earned her third career conference honor after Second Team recognition in 2023 and an honorable mention in 2022. Ngo also received honorable mention in 2022, while Crouch and Scott are receiving their first career All-UAA accolades.

Marfatia, who has appeared in all 120 sets this season, leads the team with 451.0 points (3.76 per set), 393 kills (3.28 per set), and 35 service aces (0.29 per set). She ranks second on the squad with 368 digs (3.07 per set) and has added 40.0 total blocks. Marfatia ranks third in the UAA in kills and points per set. Earlier this season, she became the third student-athlete in program history to record at least 1,000 career kills and digs and 100 career aces. Marfatia was named UAA Offensive Athlete of the Week on November 4.

Ngo has started all 31 matches for CWRU and appeared in 107 sets. She's the team's leading blocker, totaling 99.0 this season for 0.93 per set (which ranks sixth in the conference). Offensively, Ngo is second on the team with 271 kills, averaging 2.53 per set, and her .296 hitting percentage is the eighth-best in the association. Across three seasons, she has 194.0 total blocks, the 13th-most in program history.  

Crouch has so far appeared in 29 matches and 92 sets for the Spartans in 2024. She ranks second on the team in total blocks (93.0), third in points (227.5), and fifth in kills (155) and service aces (14). Her blocks per set rate of 1.01 ranks third in the UAA. In her career, Crouch has 232 kills and 133.0 total blocks in 148 sets.

Scott, who has also appeared in every set this season for Case Western Reserve, has a team-leading 743 assists in 31 matches. Her 6.19 assist per set rate ranks fourth in the conference. Scott also has 333 digs (2.78 per set), which ranks third on the team, and 60.0 total blocks, which ranks fifth on the squad. She was named the UAA Athlete of the Week for Defense/Setting on September 9 and October 28.

Case Western Reserve will face the University of Dubuque at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland, Michigan, on Thursday in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship.
