Case Western Reserve University juniors Lauren Iagnemma and Ashley Novak each secured all-region honors to help the Spartans finish ninth out of 39 total teams at the 2024 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship at Blue River Park in Shelbyville, Indiana.
CWRU finished with a total of 246 points to place ninth overall. DePauw won the meet with a score of 91 and was followed by Calvin (94), Trine (109), Wittenberg (165), John Carroll (185), Allegheny (198), Ohio Wesleyan (224), and Kalamazoo (232). Ohio Northern completed the top 10 finishing teams with a score of 259.
Iagnemma earned All-Region acclaim (presented to the top 35 finishers in the race) for the second straight season after placing fourth out of 270 total runners. She crossed the finish line of the 6K course with a time of 21:49.6, her third-fastest mark of the year.
Novak added a time of 22:48.8, her second fastest of the year, to place 15th overall. Junior Arianna Holbrook was the third Spartan to cross the line, placing 61st with a mark of 23:55.1, while junior Julia Hluck was 80th overall in a time of 23:55.1. Rounding out the team's scorers was first-year Becca Liaw who crossed the line 91st in a time of 24:06.6.
First-years Ciara Ledford and Julia Walko were also in action on Saturday for the Spartans. Ledford placed 93rd overall in a time of 24:07.5, while Walko was 125th with a time of 24:43.7.
Wilmington's Faith Duncan won the race with a time of 20:58.99.
The Spartans will now turn their attention to next weekend's NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship at the Laverne Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. Following her performance on Saturday, Iagnemma appears poised to qualify for the meet as an individual for the second year in a row.
The championship field will be posted to ncaa.com no later than 3:00 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, November 17. More information on the event will be posted to athletics.case.edu later in the week.

Each of the seven CWRU runners improved on their times at the course from when they competed at it earlier in the season at the Grizzly Invitational on September 7.

The Spartans dropped one spot in the standings from their eighth-place finish at last year's NCAA Championship meet.

This was the third straight race that Iagnemma has been the Spartans' top finisher.
