No. 11 Women’s Soccer Falls at No. 20 Emory

The 11th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team fell in a battle of nationally ranked teams, losing 2-0 to 20th-ranked Emory University on Sunday morning at WoodPEC Stadium in Atlanta.

The Spartans fell to 7-1-4 overall and 0-1-1 in University Athletic Association contests, while the Eagles improved to 8-2-1 in 2024 and 1-1-0 in the UAA.

Neither of the teams scored in the first 45 minutes of play. Emory held a 9-4 advantage in shots and 6-3 edge in shots on goal in the first period.

The Eagles broke the deadlock early in the second half, scoring in the 51st minute on goal by Katie Hungness. Emory doubled its advantage 18 minutes later, scoring on a deflected cross.

Case Western Reserve had five shots in the contest with two each coming from senior Abigail Meneses and junior Ceci Dapino.

The Spartans will return to Cleveland this week for a Saturday matchup against 20th-ranked Rochester. Kickoff at DiSanto Field is scheduled for 11 a.m.

  • Heading into play on October 7, CWRU ranked 19th in the NCAA Power Index (NPI) which is used to determine at-large selections for the NCAA Tournament. Updates will be released by the NCAA every Monday until tournament selections on Monday, November 11
  • Graduate student Maggie Storti saved career-high 11 shots in the contest, tied for the sixth most in a single game in program history
