Case Western Reserve University first-year catcher Anna Gobeyn earned the final University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors for softball of the 2023 season, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Gobeyn, the UAA Hitter of the Week, was named to the Cleveland Regional All-Tournament Team for her performance at the plate for the Spartans during the NCAA Regional Round. During the weekend, she went six-for-eight (.750) at the plate with a double, a run scored, and a run batted in. In a 15-1 win over Penn State Altoona, Gobeyn went two-for-two with a run scored. Against Hiram on Saturday, she doubled with two outs in the sixth inning to start a game-tying rally for CWRU. She ended the weekend with a career-high three hits in a 3-2 loss to Mount Union, driving in one of the two Spartan runs.

For the season, Gobeyn had a .356 batting average, .433 on-base percentage, and .589 slugging percentage, finishing second on the team with five home runs and driving in 24 runs. This is her first career UAA Athlete of the Week honor.

The Spartans, ranked third in Division III, ended the season at the Regional with a win and two losses. The team finished the season with a record of 38-5, tying the program record for wins in a single season and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history.
