The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team lost a 1-0 decision to Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday afternoon at DiSanto Field in Cleveland.
With the loss, the Spartans fell to 7-3-3 overall and 1-2-2 in University Athletic Association play. The Bears improved to 6-6-1 and 2-3-0 in conference contests.
Prior to the match, the final home contest of the regular season, the team celebrated its six graduating members—Josh Cook, Ryan Doughty, Jad Oglesby, Alex Lippiatt, Jacob Salmon, and Matt Vatne —with a Senior Day ceremony.
WashU scored the lone goal of the contest in the 33rd minute on a long strike by Owen Culver.
CWRU outshot the visitors 8-3 in the match with each side recording three shots on goal. Salmon led the squad with two shots, and he, Oglesby, and Cook each put a shot on target.
The Spartans will look to rebound on Saturday when the team travels to Waltham, Massachusetts, to face Brandeis at 1:30 p.m.
