Case Western Reserve University sophomore linebacker Henry Busch was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week after leading a dominating defensive effort for the Spartans' defense during the team's 31-6 win over Westminster College on Saturday.
Busch finished the game with a career-high eight tackles (five solo) including 2.5 tackles for loss for five yards and a quarterback hurry. His effort helped the Spartans' defense hold Westminster to just five first downs and 104 total yards in the game, the fewest the team has allowed in a game since the 2018 season. CWRU limited the Titans to just one touchdown in the game, marking the fourth time through six games this season that the Spartans have held their opponent to one or fewer touchdowns, including a pair of shutouts.
Busch has totaled 29 tackles (15 solo) and 6.5 tackles for loss, including one sack, during the season. His performance has helped the Spartans hold opponents to just 8.7 points per game this season, the best mark in the conference and seventh among all Division III teams.
This was the first PAC Player of the Week honor of his career.
The Spartans have won four-straight games to improve to 5-1 for the season. CWRU will host Waynesburg at DiSanto Field in Cleveland next Saturday, October 21 with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
