Box Score On a cold, rainy Tuesday night at DiSanto Field in Cleveland, Ohio, the 14th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team defeated Denison University 3-1 in a non-conference match.
The Spartans improved to 8-0-0 on the season and remain one of seven undefeated and untied teams in Division III. The Big Red fell to 0-7-2 on the campaign. CWRU has won 32 consecutive regular season non-conference matches dating back to the 2018 season.
Graduate student forward Camryn Hartman scored two of the Spartan goals and tallied an assist, while first-year midfielder/forward Ceci Dapino scored her first career goal. Hartman has scored or tallied an assist in every Case Wetsern Reserve match this season, leading the team in both categories.
Dapino opened the Spartan scoring in the fifth minute. She received a pass from Hartman in the middle of the box and chipped the ball into the top right corner of the goal. It was Dapino's first goal of the season and Hartman's fourth assist of the campaign.
Hartman doubled the Spartan advantage just seven minutes later, scoring the first of her two goals. Heading toward the goal in the middle of the field, she received a through ball from senior midfielder/forward Helina VanBibber in the box. Hartman put the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal on her first touch to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Spartans. VanBibber earned her second assist of the season on the play.
In the 70th minute, the Big Red scored to cut their deficit to just one on a goal by Katie Harding with an assist from Ellie Reiser.
Hartman answered with her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 83rd minute, cementing the CWRU win. First-year midfielder Mackenzie Mueller found Hartman running toward the box on the far side of the goal. Dribbling toward the goal, she fired a low shot into the bottom right corner past the Denison goalkeeper from about 15 yards out. Mueller was credited with her first career assist.
Case Western Reserve outshot Denison 16-8 for the match. Junior goalkeeper Maggie Storti earned her eighth win of the season, tying a season high with five saves.
The Spartans will host Brandeis University on Saturday to open the University Athletic Association schedule. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
