Three Spartans Compete on Day One of NCAA Indoor Championships

Three members of the Case Western Reserve University track and field teams competed on the first day of the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at the JDL Fast Track on Friday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Senior mid-distance runner Logan Singer started the day in the preliminary race of the one-mile run. He finished in 4:14.20, the 17th-best time in the race. Earlier this season, Singer set the school record with a time of 4:11.59.

Junior distance runner Cecelia Zielke followed in the women's 5000-meter run. She placed 16th, finishing with a time of 17:41.51. She qualified for the national meet with a time of 17:27.46, the best time by a Spartan this season.

Junior distance runner Jack Begley finished the day for CWRU in the men's 5000-meter run. He finished 15th in the event, with a time of 14:48.55. Earlier this season, Begley set the school record with a time of 14:25.06.

It is the first National Championship appearance for all three runners.

Junior mid-distance runner Joe Jaster will compete in the 3000-meter run on Saturday at 4:45 p.m. He is seeded eighth with a time of 8:16.52.
