The Case Western Reserve University women's basketball team suffered a 55-41 loss on the road at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois on Friday night.

The Spartans dropped to 7-12 overall with the setback, including a 2-6 record in University Athletic Association play. Chicago improved to 11-7 overall with a 4-4 UAA mark.

Junior guard/ forward Isabella Mills finished the game with eight points, four rebounds and five steals. Junior guard McKenna Gross chipped in seven points and a pair of steals for the Spartans, and sophomore Preet Gill collected a team-high seven rebounds off the bench for CWRU.

CWRU started the game strong, scoring the first six points of the game, and taking a 14-13 lead going into the second period. However, Chicago pulled away in the second quarter and led by 10 at halftime, 28-18. Mills knocked down a three-pointer with 2:54 left in the third quarter to trim the Maroons' lead back to single digits, 37-29, but that was as close as the Spartans would get for the remainder of the game.

The Spartans will now travel to St. Louis, Missouri to face Washington University, as CWRU will look to replicate its success from last week, when it bested the Bears in overtime in Cleveland. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
