Men's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Double OT Tie at John Carroll

Box Score

Case Western Reserve University senior forward Jacob Hall gave the Spartans an early first-half lead with his third goal of the season, but a late first-half goal by John Carroll University evened the score, as the two teams played to a double-overtime 1-1 tie at Don Shula Stadium in University Heights, Ohio on Wednesday evening.

With the tie, the Spartans' record moved to 3-1-1 overall, while the Blue Streaks now stand at 2-1-2 overall on the season.

The two teams battled back and forth in the first half, until Hall gave the Spartans the lead in the 19th minute when he found the back of the net for his third goal of the season. Sophomore defender Alex Lippiatt was credited with the assist.

CWRU maintained the 1-0 lead until the 42nd minute, when JCU's Jack Foht evened the score, converting the shot off an assist from Daniel Kalic.

The score remained tied at a goal apiece the rest of regulation, and neither squad would be able to strike for a 'golden goal' in overtime, resulting in the double-overtime tie.

Hall finished the game with a team-best three shots, while Lippiatt and junior midfielder Matt Vatne each registered a pair of shots. First-goalkeeper Sam Rojanasakdakul made his first collegiate start and made five saves during his 110 minutes of action.

Case Western Reserve will be back in action on Saturday, September 18th, as they host Kenyon College on DiSanto Field for a 1:30 p.m. game time.
