Highlighting the Spartan performances on Friday, junior Mia Vargo finished fourth in the women's high jump and junior Ben Pinkowski placed fifth in the men's high jump as members of the Case Western Reserve University men's and women's track and field teams finished competition at the YSU Collegiate Holiday Classic in Youngstown, Ohio.
Finishing fourth in the event, Vargo hit a mark of 1.56 meters. Pinkowski placed fifth in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.91 meters.
Also with strong performances for the Spartan women, sophomore Emily Hopkins finished sixth in the triple jump (10.67m), while first-year Sarah Ozeki placed ninth (10.38m) and first-year Lauren Roskuszka (10.31m) placed 10th in the triple jump.
Roskuszka also added a 13th place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.90 meters, while first-year Jordan Su placed 14th in the long jump (4.81m) and 17th in the 200-meter dash (28.48).
For the men, Pinkowski also earned a sixth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.22 meters, while sophomore Yusuf Shaaban placed ninth in the high jump (1.80m), 12th in the triple jump (12.30m) and 14th in the 200-meter dash (23.92)
In addition, sophomore Jack Wragan finished tied for seventh in the pole vault (3.93m), junior Keith Cartwright placed 12th in the 200-meter dash (23.67) and first-year Andrew Qi finished 16th in the long jump (5.98m).
Case Western Reserve will resume competition in the new year, with a road meet on Saturday, January 22nd at the Otterbein Invitational in Westerville, Ohio.
