Box Score The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team dropped a road match against the University of Rochester, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Edwin Fauver Stadium in Rochester, New York.
The drop brings the Spartans to 6-4-2 overall 1-2-1 in the University Athletic Association, while the Yellowjackets improve to 7-2-3, and 2-2-0 in the conference.
In the first half, the Spartans outshot the Yellowjackets 4-1. CWRU graduate student forward Seldon Magruder missed putting the Spartans on the board in the 34h minute when he laced a shot that missed high.
Rochester got on the board early in the second half, when Santi Ponce Ocampo notched a goal in the 54th minute. The Yellowjackets added to its lead when Othman Belhseine scored a goal via an assist by Ponce Ocampo at the 61:47 mark.
The Spartan's attack was aggressive after the two scores as they totaled five shots, including four shots on goal.
Despite the score, CWRU held the advantage in shots (11-7) and corner kicks (7-4).
Sophomore defender Alex Lippiatt led the Spartans with three shots, while Magruder, junior midfielder Matt Vatne and first-year forward Brandon Kim each recorded two shots.
In net, junior goalkeeper Jackson Kallen made three saves to run his season total to 18.
Case Western Reserve will look to rebound when the team faces Carthage College in South Bend, Indians on Friday, October 22 in their final non-conference match of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
