In its final match of the season, the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team fell to Carnegie Mellon University 4-0 at DiSanto Field on Saturday evening.

Despite the score line, the Spartans outshot the Tartans 19-13 and put seven shots on goal to Carnegie Mellon's six. Senior forward Zachary Senft led the squad with seven shots and two on goal. Junior forward Seldon Magruder and sophomore midfielder Henry Barnes put two shots on goal, with Magruder totaling five shots overall.

In the 42nd minute, senior forward Nicholas Poveda put the Tartans on the board first with his first goal of the season off a corner kick from senior midfielder Zach Painter. 

Painter doubled the CMU advantage early in the second half, scoring his first goal of the season to give the Tartans a 2-0 lead. The Tartans added to their lead with a goal in the 73rd minute from senior midfielder Cooper Tubiana with an assist from Jordi Long, and a second goal from Painter in the 74th minute with an assist from sophomore defender Jason Edmunds.

Prior to the start of the match, the Spartans recognized the seven graduating players from the 2019 squad—defender Nicholas Bertrand, defender Kyle Lewis, midfielder Marques Manta, midfielder Chas Novitsky, Senft, midfielder Garrett Winter, and midfielder Brian Woo—as part of the "Senior Day" celebration.

The Spartans end the 2019 season with an overall record of 6-8-4 and a 0-5-2 mark in UAA play. The Tartans finish the season with a record of 7-8-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the UAA.
