After a hard-fought 110 minutes of play, the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team tied Emory University 2-2 on Friday night at DiSanto Field in two overtimes. The Spartans now sit at 5-4-4 overall with a 0-1-2 record in the University Athletic Association, while the Eagles sit at 7-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the UAA.

Junior forward Seldon Magruder put the Spartans on the board first in the 50th minute. He collected a loose ball on the right side of the box and beat the Emory goalkeeper for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Following an Emory goal to tie the match in the middle of the second half, senior forward Zachary Senft put the Spartans ahead in the 83rd minute. He received a pass from Magruder just outside the box and fired the ball past the goalkeeper. It was Senft's third goal of the season and Magruder's first assist this year. 

Then, in the 88th minute, Emory first-year forward Zach Kornblum tied the match again with an assist from Mehlman. It was Kornblum's first goal of the season and Mehlman's first assist of the year.

Neither team could find a 'golden goal' in overtime, despite a combined 11 shots in the final 20 minutes, as the match ended in a draw.

First-year goalkeeper Jackson Kallen posted a career-high nine saves throughout the contest and faced 35 Emory shots. Magruder led Case Western Reserve with five shots, while Senft put a team-high four shots on goal. Throughout the physical match, the teams combined for 28 fouls, three yellow cards, and one red card.

The Spartans remain at home and continue UAA play when they host the University of Rochester on Sunday, October 20. Kickoff at DiSanto Field is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
