Box Score The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team dropped a 4-2 decision to John Carroll University in a non-conference road match in University Heights, Ohio on Wednesday evening.
The Spartans fell to 4-5-0 with the loss, while John Carroll improved to 4-3-1 for the campaign.
The Blue Streaks started the scoring early, when Bailey Fischer scored her fifth goal of the season via an assist from Rachel Braunegg in the ninth minute of play. CWRU responded in the 17th minute when freshman Abby DeCicco scored her second goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Kimberly Chen and junior Emily Dickens.
John Carroll struck for two more goals in the 32nd and 48th minute via goals from Justina Fortson and Adelyn Burns. The Spartans made a late push when freshman Emily Hauser struck for her second goal of the season, after an assist from DeCicco and sophomore Ana Petropoulos in the 83rd minute.
Fischer sealed the Blue Streak victory in the 88th minute after scoring her second goal of the game and sixth of the season.
John Carroll held the 23-19 advantage in total shots, but the Spartans recorded two more shots on goal than the Blue Streaks. DeCicco and Petropoulos led CWRU with four shots apiece.
Case Western Reserve will return to action against 24th-ranked Brandeis University in their conference opener on Sunday, October 1st at 1:30 p.m.
