Spartan Men Suffer 1-0 Loss at Ohio Wesleyan

The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss on the road against the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops on Wednesday night in Delaware, Ohio.

The Spartans are now 3-3-1 on the season, while the Battling Bishops improve to 4-3-0.

The only score of the match came OWU's Adam Yingling found the back of the net, unassisted, in the 23rd minute of play. The goal was his second of the season.

CWRU fought hard all throughout the match. The Spartans took seven of their 12 shots in the second half.

Statistically, Ohio Wesleyan outshot CWRU 13-12, but the Spartans held a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. CWRU also held a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman Connor Weber led the Spartans with three total shots, while senior Jack Rademacher recorded a team-high two shots on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Calvin Boyle made four saves throughout the match.

Case Western Reserve will return to action on Saturday, September 23rd as they prepare to host fourth-ranked Lycoming College on DiSanto Field. The game is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.
