Box Score Case Western Reserve University sophomore forward Kimberly Chen connected on a goal early in the first half to the give the Spartans a 1-0 win over the College of Wooster on Wednesday evening at DiSanto Field.
The Spartans improve to 5-6-0 on the season, while Wooster drops to 5-4-2.
CWRU wasted no time in the first half, as Chen received a pass from senior midfielder Elle Zadina at the 3:51 mark and sent a shot past the Wooster goalkeeper from approximately 15 yards to give the Spartans the 1-0 advantage. The goal was Chen's second of the season.
The Spartans withstood the Wooster attack throughout the game and were able to secure the shutout victory. CWRU was led by the outstanding play of sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Unterborn who tallied seven saves and recorded her third shutout of the campaign.
Zadina led the Spartans with three total shots, while Chen totaled a team-high two shots on goal.
Case Western Reserve will return to action on Saturday, October 7th, as they travel to New York, New York to face conference opponent New York University. The game is slated for a 1:30 p.m. start.
