Spartan Men Fall in Season Finale at #21 Carnegie Mellon

The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team dropped their season-finale to 21st-ranked Carnegie Mellon University 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at the CMU Soccer Field.

The Spartans see their season end at 5-9-4 overall and 0-4-3 in the University Athletic Association, while the Tartans end their regular season at 12-3-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the UAA.

Carnegie Mellon opened the scoring within the first two minutes of the game. Sophomore Zack Masciopinto received a cross from senior Devin Keane and headed it into the goal for his 12th goal on the season. The Tartans added to their lead when Masciopinto scored his second goal of the game at the 66:06 mark.

CMU held an advantage in shots (10-6) and shots on goal (7-2).

Senior midfielder Jacob Grindel led the Spartans with two shots, while senior forward Joshua Prosser and junior defender Jack Rademacher each recorded one shot on goal.

In net, junior goalkeeper Calvin Boyle made five saves to run his season total to 77.

Saturday's game concludes the 2016 campaign for Case Western Reserve.
