Spartan Women Fall 4-0 at Emory

The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team fell by a score of 4-0 at Emory University on Friday evening at the Woodruff P.E. Center.

The Spartans drop to 5-5-3 overall and 0-2-1 in the University Athletic Association. The Eagles improve to 8-4-0, 2-1-0 UAA.

CWRU fell behind early and was never able to recover. At 4:13, Emory's Cristina Ramirez scored her third goal of the season via an assist from Shivani Beall. Emory increased their advantage to 2-0 in the 13th minute, Beall scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Melissa Ardizzone.

The Eagles struck for two more goals in the 19th and 38th minutes of play via goals from Ramirez and Caroline Kolski, respectively.

The Spartans best shot at a score came in the 25th minute when freshman forward Kimberly Chen ripped a shot that hit off the post.

For the match, Emory led in shots (19-8) and corner kicks (5-2).

Junior goalkeeper Sarah Newcomb made six saves for the Spartans.

Case Western Reserve will continue its road-trip on Sunday morning when the Spartans play against the University of Rochester at 11:00 a.m.
