Box Score Sophomore forward Michael Balog and senior midfielder Chris Cvecko each struck for their fifth goals of the 2015 season in a 2-0 shutout against The College of Wooster on Wednesday night at John P. Papp Stadium.
The Spartans improved to 7-1 on the season, earning their third straight shutout and fifth overall in 2015.
CWRU took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute of play when Balog fielded his own long ball over the defense and beat the Fighting Scots goalkeeper one-on-one for the score. Balog's goal would be the only of the first half.
In the 70th minute, Cvecko scored on a header off of a free kick from junior defender Zach Broujos, pushing the Spartans lead to 2-0.
The Spartans defense kept Wooster away from goal, holding them without a shot on goal during the match. CWRU held the advantage in both corner kicks (10-1) and total shots (15-5) on Wednesday night.
The men's soccer team will continue their road play, heading to Wilmington College (Ohio) on Saturday, September 26, with kick-off set for 7:00 p.m.
