UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team battled John Carroll University to a 0-0 draw on Friday night at Don Shula Stadium. 

With the tie, the Spartans move their overall mark to 5-1-2 and extend their current unbeaten streak to six games, while John Carroll sits at 5-2-1.

CWRU owned a 26-9 advantage in shot attempts. Senior forward Caitlyn McGillis (Fraser, Mich./Regina) was credited with a team-high nine shots. The Spartans also attempted all three corner kick opportunities in the game.

Senior goalkeeper Abbey Smith (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) made three saves to register her third consecutive shutout and fifth of the season, matching her 2013 total. The reigning University Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week has allowed just four goals in eight games this season. For her Spartan career, Smith has now blanked 10 opponents and sits alone in fourth place on the school's all-time list.

Smith's counterpart in net on Friday night, Haley McDonald, made 12 saves for the Blue Streaks. 

The Spartans will return to action on Thursday night with a home match against Kenyon College.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from DiSanto Field.
