Box Score ADA, Ohio – Sophomore midfielder Amy Lindberg (Farmington Hills, Mich./Harrison) scored the lone goal of the game to propel the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team to a road win versus Ohio Northern University, 1-0.
The win lifts the Spartans to 5-1-1, while the Polar Bears fall to 3-4-0. CWRU is now 4-0-1 in its past five matches, and three of the victories have been via shutout.
Lindberg found the back of the net in the 14th minute for her first marker of the season. The strike was set up by a corner kick from senior forward Caitlyn McGillis (Fraser, Mich./Regina).
Senior goalkeeper Abbey Smith (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) made eight saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season. Smith has allowed just four goals in seven matches this season.
CWRU owned a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks, while Ohio Northern led in shots, 18-16. Senior forward Jessie Sabers (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) led the Spartans with five shot attempts.
The Spartans will be back in action on Friday night at John Carroll University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in University Heights.
