Box Score CLEVELAND – Freshman midfielder Madeleine Harris (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) tallied a goal and an assist as the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team defeated The College of Wooster, 2-0, on Tuesday evening at Carl Dale Field.
With the win, the Spartans extend their record to 7-2-2 and are now one win shy of matching their total from 2013.
Harris scored her second marker of the season unassisted in the 25th minute, then added an assist in the 78th minute on a goal by sophomore midfielder Amy Lindberg (Farmington Hills, Mich./Harrison).
The victory was the seventh shutout of the season for senior goalkeeper Abbey Smith (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty), who was credited with two saves. Elizabeth Clark made five stops for Wooster.
For the match, the Spartans owned an 11-7 edge in shots, while each team attempted four corner kicks.
CWRU now returns home and to University Athletic Association play with a 1:30 p.m. match against New York University on Saturday, October 11 at DiSanto Field. In the latest NSCAA rankings, the Spartans are ranked third in the Great Lakes Region, while the Violets are fifth in the East.
Saturday's event is also part of the team's Kicks for a Cause program and 30th anniversary celebration.
