The undefeated Spartans enter Wednesday's match fresh off of a thrilling, 4-3 victory over Franklin College (Ind.) on Saturday. Freshman midfielder Jacob Grindel scored two goals, and sophomore midfielder Chris Cvecko registered three assists in the win. Also on Saturday, senior midfielder Marco Patrie and sophomore forward Matthew Zembas each scored their first goal of the 2013 campaign. Overall, Cvecko leads the Spartans with seven points while Grindel and sophmore Slater Jameson have six and five points, respectively. In goal, freshman Ari Lewis has made 20 saves with .806 goals against average. Case is 1-2 in the last three meetings against JCU, including a 1-0 loss last season.
John Carroll enters the match with three wins in a row, following a 4-0 shutout of Fredonia State University (N.Y.). Seniors Mariusz Trzeciak and Nathan Sharbaugh each have three goals to lead the Blue Streaks offensively. In goal, Zach Fehrenbach has made 14 saves with 1.19 goals against average.
