Box Score GRANVILLE, Ohio – Freshman midfielder Kiley Armstrong (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) netted her first collegiate goal in the 78th minute leading the No. 13 nationally-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team to a narrow 1-0 victory versus home-standing Denison University on Wednesday evening at Barclay-Thomsen Field.
With the victory, the Spartans improve to 2-0-1 for the season and return to action on Saturday, September 8 with the 2012 home opener versus No. 25 Centre College (Ky.). A season ago, the Spartans were 8-3-2 at home.

The first 45 minutes saw each team with scoring chances, but neither was able to find the back of the opposing net. Following the halftime intermission, Case ratcheted up the offensive pressure and broke the scoreless match in the 78th minute. Armstrong settled a loose ball several yards in front of the Big Red goal and punched home her first collegiate score.
Of note, Case junior forward Leah Levey (Columbus, Ohio/Bexley) recorded five shots during the victory.
Between the pipes, Spartan freshman Megan Romelfanger (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) tallied up her initial collegiate victory while facing just three Big Red shots. Sophomore keeper Cameron Casson (Allen, Texas/Allen) logged the first 45 minutes but didn't record a save. Denison's Andrea Karl faced 19 shots and recorded four saves.
For the game, the Spartans held a decided 19-6 advantage in shots, including 12-3 in the final 45 minutes, as well as a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
