Box Score BEXLEY, Ohio – Junior forward Leah Levey (Columbus, Ohio/Bexley) scored a pair of goals just 73 seconds apart near the midway point of the opening half lifting the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer to a 2-1 victory at Captial University on Saturday afternoon at Bernlohr Stadium.
With the win, the Spartans improve to 4-2-2 overall and return to action this Monday, September 24 on the road at local-rival John Carroll University at 7:00 p.m. in University Heights. With its loss, Capital falls to 5-4.
Levey recorded her second and third goals of the season in the 18th and 19th minutes, respectively, with identical shots to the left corner of the goal beating Crusader goalkeeper Maggie Donnellan. Both goals were unassisted.
Capital responded late in the 20th minute when Lauren Roy scored on a header via an assist from Mariah Richards.
In the second half, scoring chances were more difficult to come by with just five shots combined and neither team able to find the back of the opposition's net.
In goal, Case sophomore Cameron Casson (Allen, Texas/Allen) recorded one save during the first 45 minutes, while freshman Megan Romelfanger (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) played the final stanza and tallied a trio of stops. Donnellan made eight saves in the loss.
For the match, Case outshot the Crusaders, 12-6, and held the advantage in corner kicks, 4-1.
