The Spartans are No. 24 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top-25 poll. After suffering its first loss of the season last Saturday, Case rebounded with a 3-1 victory at The College of Wooster this past Wednesday, September 12. The Spartans scored all three goals in the first half as sophomore forward Jessie Sabers notched her team-best fourth of the season, and junior forward Leah Levey added her first goal and assist of the fall. Sabers leads the team through four matches with eight points, while Levey has three from her performance at Wooster. Sophomore midfielder Caitlyn McGillis and freshman midfielder Kiley Armstrong each have one goal as well. In net, sophomore Cameron Casson (2-1) has started all five matches with one save and a 1.60 goals against average. Freshman Megan Romelfanger (1-0-1) has relieved Casson during the second half of each match and has eight saves with a 0.37 GAA.
Wittenberg hasn't won since its season opener and last played to a 2-1 neutral site loss versus undefeated Frostburg State University (Md.) on Sunday. Junior Kayla Murphy scored the Tigers' goal via an assist from senior Kailey Striebel. For the season, Murphy leads the team with four points on a pair of goals. Striebel has three points on a goal and an assist, while four others have scored one goal for the Tigers this season. At goalkeeper, senior Cassie Lythjohan (1-1-1) has started and played in three matches with 11 saves and a 0.32 GAA. Classmate Melissa Gartner (0-1-0) has the team's other start and decision to go along with seven saves.
