Box Score OBERLIN, Ohio – Senior co-captain and midfielder Eric Erb (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) along with sophomore forward Patrick O'Day (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior) scored goals in the 12th and 89th minutes, respectively, and the defense held the Oberlin College attack in check as the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory on Saturday evening at Fred Shults Field.
With the win, the Spartans level their season record at 3-3 overall and will return to action on Tuesday, September 18 at the friendly confines of Case Field versus Penn State Erie, The Behrend College at 7:30 p.m. With its loss, Oberlin falls to 5-2.
Erb provided all the scoring Case would need in the 12th minute when the fourth-year Spartan scored on a shot from the right side of the box under the outstretched arms of the Oberlin goalkeeper.
Case later sealed the match when O'Day knocked home his team-best fourth goal at the conclusion of a set piece on an assist from senior back Sam Kuehnle (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills).
In goal, Spartan senior Ryan Koepka (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) collected three saves to earn the win and his second shutout for the fall. Oberlin's Brandt Rentel made six saves.
Case outshot Oberlin by a 15-8 count on the evening, while the Yeomen held a slight 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
