CLEVELAND, Ohio – A pair of second half goals was the difference as the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team fell, 3-1, to cross-town rival Baldwin Wallace University on Tuesday night at Case Field.

The Spartans (2-3) head back out on the road for a match at Oberlin College this Saturday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Oberlin. With the win, BW improves to 4-1.

BW got on the board quickly in the 16th minute when Pat Brennan scored following a long dribble off of a free kick and was assisted on the play by Michael Brennan. The Spartans evened the score just over two minutes later at 17:54 when sophomore forward Patrick O'Day (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior) converted a penalty kick for his third goal of the season. The two sides then went scoreless over the duration of the half despite several goal-scoring opportunities on each side.

Early in the second half, Brennan struck again and gave the Yellow Jackets the lead on a penalty kick at the 55:07 mark. The visitors then added a goal from Ben Deighton in the 70th minute with a helper from Vince Milner and tightened defensively to secure the 3-1 victory.  

Case's best shot at another score came at 63:44 when a tapper from senior midfielder Aaron Mayer (Merritt Island, Fla./Merritt Island) floated just right of the BW goal.

In goal, senior Ryan Koepka (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) made three saves, but was saddled with the loss to fall to 1-3. For BW, Tyler Beaton recorded one save in the win.

For the match, BW outshot Case, 12-7, while each team attempted six corner kicks.
