MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Case Western Reserve University men's basketball team used a 28-2 run in the first half of play en route to a 73-57 victory at Allegheny College on Wednesday evening at the David V. Wise Center.

Winners of four straight, the Spartans move to 5-2 this season heading into a seven-game home stand that begins on Friday, December 9 versus Kenyon College at 7:30 p.m. The Gators lose their fourth-consecutive contest and fall to 2-7 overall.

Junior forward Austin Fowler (Farmington Hills, Mich./Birmingham Brother Rice) led a balanced Spartan scoring effort with a game-high 16 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore center David Thompson (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior) recorded his second career double-double with 12 points and a career-best 13 boards.

Junior guard Robert Scott (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) added a season-high 10 markers, while freshman guard Ken Gibbons (Cairnbrook, Pa./Shade) scored a career-best nine. Overall, seven Spartans scored at least seven points in the game.

The score was tied at 6-6 at the 14:37 mark of the first half, and the Spartans blew the game open by outscoring the Gators 28-2 over the next 9:31 of play. Freshman guard Julien Person (Houston, Texas/Second Baptist) opened the run with a three-pointer at 13:55 and Gibbons capped it with a triple at 5:06. The Spartans also held the Gators scoreless for 5:50 during that span in building a game-high lead of 26, 34-8.

Over the final 4:53 of the period, Allegheny trimmed four off of its deficit and went into halftime trailing, 39-15.

In the second half, the Gators outscored the Spartans, 42-34, but never got closer than 12 when David Dibernardi hit a three-pointer to bring the score to 65-53 with 6:02 left to play. For the game, Allegheny had three in double-figures led by James Ness with 15.
