Box Score CLEVELAND, Ohio – A goal in the 79th minute led the No. 6 nationally-ranked Emory University (Ga.) women's soccer team past No. 22 Case Western Reserve University, 1-0, in a Top-25 showdown on Friday evening at Case Field.
The Spartans see a seven-match unbeaten streak come to an end and fall to 9-2-2 overall and 2-1 in the University Athletic Association. Emory moves to 10-0-2 and 2-0-1 in the UAA.
Emory's Clare Mullins broke a scoreless tie at the 78:40 mark with a tapper on a rebound with assists from Caroline Coates and Emily Feldman.
For the match, Emory held an 11-4 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
Senior defender Laura Gabster (Mount Laurel, N.J./Bishop Eustace) recorded a team-high two shots for the Spartans.
In goal, senior captain Anna Kennedy (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) recorded five saves for Case. Emory's Erica Stein and Kaele Leonard each played 45 minutes and combined for two saves.
The Spartans wrap up their UAA home weekend on Sunday, October 16, versus rival Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.) at 1:30 p.m.
