Box Score CLEVELAND, Ohio – Sophomore midfielder Deena Levey (Columbus, OH/Bexley) and younger sister, freshman Leah Levey (Columbus, OH/Bexley), each scored as the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team defeated John Carroll University, 2-0, at Case Field.
The Spartans improve to 4-1-1 overall and have now won three straight. Case returns to action this Sunday, September 19 at regional-power Otterbein College at 2:00 p.m. in Westerville. With its loss, JCU falls to 2-4.
Deena Levey broke a scoreless tie with her first goal of the season via an assist from sophomore midfielder Erica Sackett (Independence, OH/Independence) in the 75th minute. Leah Levey added an insurance score in the 86th minute on a rebound following a shot by freshman midfielder Rachel Borque (Newton, NH).
In goal, junior Anna Kennedy (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) recorded five saves to post her first shutout of the season and improve to 2-1 overall. John Carroll's Molly Gradowski made seven stops in the loss.
For the game, Case outshot the Blue Streaks, 11-7, and held the advantage in corner kicks, 8-3.
Following Sunday's game at Otterbein, the Spartans return home to host Baldwin-Wallace College on Tuesday, September 21 at Case Field.
