Box Score CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team outshot visiting New York University but was unable to find the back of the net in a physical, 2-0 loss on Saturday, October 9 at Case Field.
Case had its chances in the match, outshooting the Violets and narrowly trailing, 4-3, in corner kicks. Nevertheless, two second half goals by NYU's Kyle Green and Paolo Luciano proved to be the difference in the match. Green scored on a header in the 55th minute, while Luciano added the insurance score just four minutes later.
Junior goalkeeper Ben Yabrow (Marietta, GA/George Walton Comprehensive) helped keep the Violets scoreless until the 55th minute and recorded one save during his 90 minutes in net. NYU's Matt Stieve recorded four saves in collecting the shutout.
Senior midfielder Elliot Fishman (Pittsburgh, PA/Taylor Allderdice) led the Spartans with two shots on goal.
Case will next square off with another UAA foe in Washington University (Mo.) next Friday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m.
