Slater was the team's top finisher at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on Friday night at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio. Slater placed third out of 246 total finishers in the men's 8K and was the first Spartan to cross the finish line for the first time in his career. His time of 25:49.0 was his season-best mark. Slater helped lead the Spartans to a third place finish out of 22 teams in the race.
