Sean Jackson enters his second season as an assistant coach at CWRU in 2022-2023. During the 2021-2022 season, he assisted in organizing practices, helped prep wrestlers at competitions, and supervised morning weight lifting sessions.
From 2009-2022, Jackson worked as a high school athletic director at Bedford and Lakewood. Following his work in administration, he most recently returned to teaching history.
Jackson has coached at the youth, middle, and high school level for over 25 years, working as a high school wrestling coach from 1997-2009. During his time as a coach, he managed several tournaments, was selected as a Greater Cleveland East All-Star Team Coach of the Year, and coached his team to two conference championships. Since 1997, he served as a USA Ohio Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling official, and he has officiated high school wrestling since 2016.
As a high school wrestler, Jackson was a OHSAA state qualifier in 1990 and team captain. In college, he wrestled two years at Kent State University amassing an open tournament record of 19-12. He transferred to Cleveland State University in 1993 and became a two year starter with the Vikings. He placed 4th at 134lbs and 5th at 150lbs in the Eastern Wrestling League while in Cleveland. During Jackson's junior season in 1994, he was one match away from qualifying for the NCAA Division I Tournament at 134 pounds. Jackson completed his career with 42 victories and three wins over nationally-ranked top 15 wrestlers.
A native of Cleveland Heights, Jackson received his bachelor’s degree in History from Cleveland State University. He earned two master’s degrees at Cleveland State, one in Sports Management in 2003, and one in Education Administration in 2009, and holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Southern University (2019).
He and his wife Fatimah have two sons.
